  • Friday night meeting: Why Baptism?

What a beautiful night it is
tonight is not too hot and our small group...

we did not have small group tonight due to brothers and sisters are busy
but we still have agenda for all our friends
Why Baptism?
Word: John 3:22-4:3

Donald Whitney in his book Spiritual
Disciplines Within the Church
tells the following story. “Eighty-seven year old Giles Pellerin
recently attended his 750th consecutive USC football game. He has not missed a
Trojan game—home or away—in 69
years! One year he had an appendectomy just five days before a game.
Still hospitalized on Saturday, he told the nurses he was going for a walk and
instead went to the stadium. Why make such sacrifices to identify with an
athletic team? 'That's just all part of being a fan!' Pellerin replied.”
Fan is short for fanatic. For millions of people their actions
prove that to be a
fan is to openly demonstrate your dedication.
But if you ask many Christians to publicly identify themselves with the Son of
God in an unusual way they will think it strange, cult-like, even fanatical.
Others might feel self-conscious about such public displays of devotion. Many
Christians respond to baptism this way. Even some who truly love Jesus consider
baptism insignificant or something to think about doing later. How important is
it? Why should anyone seek baptism in a local church?
On the other hand, why would anyone who has come to know Jesus Christ and
received his eternal life refuse to identify with Him in the manner he prescribed?
If others will proudly wear clothing announcing their loyalty to a sports team,
if Giles Pellerin will travel the country for sixty-nine years to express his
devotion to the USC football team, can believers in Jesus Christ remain
unwilling to identify themselves with their Savior and God through baptism?
Today we answer the question:
“Why be baptized?”

  • Friday night meeting: Why Church?

Sometimes only two brothers or sisters are meeting, we can discuss more
tonight only Mark and I were in the small group but we had great sharing

Why do we have to go to church on Sunday?
Can I worship to God by myself?
of course we can worship by ourself to God and do not have to be on Sunday
but what God wants us to do in the church is not only worship to Him...
Church is the body of Christ
we are in the body of Christ
Why Church?
Hebrews 10:19-25

Maybe be you have one, or had one, or
were one
—a
child that constantly asks, “Why?” to everything you say, or do, or tell them to do. I have had six of
them who tried my patience and intelligence with one three-letter word followed
by a question mark. Sometimes wearied from hearing “the
word” I struggled to find ways to get away from it, but
to no avail. Instead, I diligently tried to give a good answer to every pesky
inquiry.
I had this idea that one day someone would ask my child, “Why?” and their reply would be, “Ask my daddy. He knows everything!” You
would think after enduring that word for 20 some years I would be less likely
to use it myself. However, that is not the case. In fact, I sometimes think I
don't use it enough, especially regarding the mundane that daily passes us by
without a hint of curiosity. For example, why do we come to church? Why do we
meet on Sundays?
Why do we sing, pray, have a sermon, drink some coffee and then go home only to
come back again next week? For many, that's all “church” is and so ask, “Why bother?” That's a good question! Why bother to make the effort every Sunday
to come to church? Can't you be just as good a Christian and enjoy a late
breakfast and read the paper on Sunday?
Or, take the family to the beach for some fun together? Isn't that just as
important? Does God require that I go to church to be a follower? Why? Let's
put that three letter word to our Father in heaven and see what his answer
is...

  • Friday night meeting: It's A New Day

Tonight, only Doreen and I were meeting
we had great discustion about testimory and "A New Day"
It's A New Day
Words: Act 1:1-11

PhilipYancey (The Jesus I Never
Knew)
describes what he thinks life would be like if Jesus did not rise
from the grave. “After time, as emotional wounds began to heal, the disciples would
seek some way to memorialize Jesus.

Perhaps they would collect his sayings in a written form akin to one of our
Gospels, though with the more sensational claims excised. Or, along with Jews
from that period who were honoring other martyr-prophets, they might build a
monument to Jesus' life. If so, we who live in modern times could still visit
that monument and learn about the carpenter/philosopher from Nazareth. We could
sift through his sayings, taking or leaving whatever we liked. Worldwide, Jesus
would be esteemed in the same way Confucius or Socrates is esteemed.”

However, the resurrection changed all that. Because of the empty grave Jesus is
out there somewhere! We never know when he might show up—just like the
disciples. We can't dismiss his claims as quaint sayings. We must pay
attention. Only 40 short days Jesus remained on earth before he floated into the
big blue yonder. If Resurrection Day is most exciting for us, Ascension Day
must have been most exciting for Jesus.

Finally getting home! For his disciples it was a new beginning. For us life
changes when we realize Jesus is alive and among us. Think about it. He
entrusted his entire enterprise to 120 uncertain and doubting followers and
challenged them to finish what he started. How have we responded?

  • Friday night meeting: Jesus' Body

Because of Typhoon, we did not have small group meeting tonight
but I still went to Justinbourg to be with Justin and pray together

Jesus' Body:
The Words we are looking at:
Mark 1:16-20; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:41-42; 6:7; 9:31
In our series, “Jesus, Who Is He?” we have looked at what the gospels have recorded of Jesus' response to many things: His response to sinners, to religious people, to Pharisees, to followers, to sickness, to poverty, etc.. What about the “church?” Matthew's gospel records the first
time this word is mentioned in the New Testament making the context and meaning very important.
What did Jesus mean by his choice of words? How did he expect the disciple to understand what he was talking about? Not long afterwards Jesus explains to his disciples how to handle a problem of sin and offense between believers. Please note that Jesus said the final authority for settling the difference was the
“church.”
What did synagogue attending and Old Testament scripture believing Jews make of this teaching? Our assembly is likened unto the
“Body of Christ” or the earthly representation of Jesus Christ in our world today. What relationship did Jesus intend us to have with this church? What kind of authority did Jesus envision for the church? What kind of power would his “Body” have on earth or in heaven? What kind of perpetuity would this body have?
Matthew, the gospel-writer with primarily a Jewish mind-set, is the only one to mention this new entity, organization, community, fellowship, or assembly and he mentions it only twice. However, we learn from other New Testament authors, particularly Paul, what Jesus was intending for his church. What should your relationship to the Body of Christ look like and what expectations should we have for the only community sanctioned by the New Testament?

  • Friday night meeting: GOOD LEADERS ARE GOOD LISTENERS

“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry” (James 1:19)
Are you a good listener? What do we have to do to be a good leader?

Good leaders are good listeners
are you a leader?
how are you listening to your members?

if you are member
what do you want to listen from your leader?

Listening sounds a easy job to do
but...
what are you thinking or doing when you listen to others???

There were 5 brothers and sisters meeting in Justin's office without A/C.
We shared how we have been tranned Disciple.....
Jesus' Disciple part II:
Multiplication is much more powerful than addition. It wasn't enough for Jesus to merely teach his disciples about the Kingdom, but it was imperative they learn to tell others also.
